All I can say is that I am SO thankful that Jules and I got back safely from our cruise! We literally missed Hurricane Joaquin by one day in Nassau! Let’s just say the boat was rocking BIG TIME on Wednesday on our way back to Charleston. We spent the day on the pool deck because it was the only place that we were able to be without feeling sick.
We did have an AMAZING time together and it was really good for me to have no responsibilities for a few days. I joked around with Jules that it was so nice to not be checking my phone for texts, emails and social media notifications. You don’t really realize how much work goes into helping run a business until you step away from it with NO contact from anyone. I will say that there is no way that I would have been able to go without the help of my hubby, mother-in-law and the great employees that we have! It’s going to be a little while before I go away again like that – it was really hard to not have contact with my hubs and babies!
On another note – I came home to what is being called a Historic Flooding Event in Charleston! We have already gotten more rain in 2 days than we have in the whole month of October in YEARS! They are saying that this is a once in 500 year event! We weren’t able to open the store today because they have the peninsula closed to incoming traffic. We are extremely lucky with where we live because we are not close to sea level, but there are others who are not so lucky. We’re just hoping that we don’t lose power, because if we do they’re saying that it might be days before it comes back on!
We’ve had family and friends texting us to make sure that we are ok, so we just want to let them know that we are! It’s crazy to see pictures of your city on the national news, and even up into Canada!
I hope that everyone is staying safe and enjoying some extra family time! I know that I’m loving all the extra snuggles, tickle fights and kisses today!
A friend posted this on Facebook and I thought it was a nice way to try to make a serious situation a little comical!
